Pat Peterside Finally Initiated Into...........Womanhoood

Pat Asabe Peterside has completed the final stage of her initiation into womanhood popularly known as ‘Bibite’ in the Ibani clan of Rivers State. The every excited Pat said that the completion of the final stage of the ceremony will avail her the opportunity to tie high grade wrappers and be admitted into the circle of the elder states women of the community. Speaking earlier, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi congratulated her on the success of her Bibite Ceremony. Amaechi who came into Opobo town on a helicopter had smiles of satisfaction all over his face while being entertained at the ceremony

Later on, Member representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro constituency in the House of Representatives and Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Dakuku Adol Peterside Ph.D. stormed the venue of the ceremony with his teaming supporters from different parts of the State.

DR. Dakuku expressed delight over Mrs. Pat for upholding the highly respected Opobo tradition by completing the three stages of womanhood in Opobo Kingdom, which are the Kalaigberibite, Igenebite and Bibite ceremonies. Hon. Dakuku Peterside Ph.D, went ahead to dance and enjoy himself with women, children and all others present at the ceremony, it was an inexpressible moment of joy.

“We are celebrating with our sister, daughter, friend. Mrs. Pat Asabe Peterside as she celebrates the “BIBITE” ceremony showing that she has come of age to sit with elders states women of the Opobo community and tie highest grade of wrappers which is a transition from being a young lady to a matured senior citizen of the community” he said.

Pat, who came all the way from New Jersey, North America with her entire family to join her kinsmen in this beautiful cultural display could not hold her joy as she was full of smiles and laughter.

Highlights of the occasion include lavish display of very respected cultural groups from within the Ibani clans and a thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Anglican Church Opobo.



Dignitaries who graced the occasion include the Executive Governor of Rivers State Rt. HON. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and his entourage, Member of House Representatives representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro and Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside and his teaming crowd, Dame Aleruchi Cookey-Gam of Greater Port Harcourt, Permanent Secretary,Ministry of Information and Communications, Mrs. Peterside, amongst others. Not forgetting, the food was RICH and Satisfying.
