Nigeria Buhari: As Written By Shedrack Fubara
First, I thank you for your compliments and for recognizing my determination to fight for a true and progressive Nigeria. I am a progressive and a true believer in a one United and egalitarian Nigeria where justice, fairness and equity shall prevail.
Much as I am dissatisfied with some policy decisions and style of President Goodluck Jonathan in governance of Nigeria, I still believe he alone cannot change the decades of decay Nigeria has been plunged into by successive govt. To this end, rather than wish him failure or call him bad luck, we need to rally support for him by exposing the ills we see around us, making public issues that we feel ought to be addressed by govt, making constructive criticisms of policies and programs that will engender true development of the Nigeria and her people, making individual contributions as citizens, holding government and leaders at all levels accountable, exposing corruption and tendencies, etc. However, care must be taken while doing these not to heat up the polity thus creating uneasy calm in the country; because it's only in an atmosphere of peace and unity that meaningful development can take place.
Together we have a responsibility to make Nigeria a better place, so the much desired change cannot and must not be left for President Goodluck Jonathan alone to bring about. There is no doubting the fact that President Goodluck means well for every day people, the fact still remains that the cabals and retrogressive agents of change surround him and abound in and around us. This therefore is a reason we cannot say it's Ohuru yet as much still needs to be done to set Nigeria on the path of progressive change.
Be that as it may, I strongly also oppose the continuous recycling of the same people that got us where we are. Buhari is no doubt a true Statesman, but in this day and age, Nigeria needs: young, democratic, intelligent, charismatics, selfless and smart nationalist as leaders. The youths must rise up to the occasion and set the stage for us to take over from these past leaders who have failed us. We the youths cannot be at the fore front of a clamor for the return of men like Gneral Buhari, Babangida, etc. They had their chance but they failed to use it to lay solid foundation for a sustainable future for Nigerian youths.
Nigerian youths must wake up and refuse any attempt by these octogenarians to use us for their selfish gains.
If Nigeria is to take her pride of place in the comity of Nations, we all must play our part. It's not enough to sit on the fence and do arm-chair criticisms of every Government. We as youths must show a departure from the status-quo and hold government accountable afteral it's our future that is being mortgaged.
Together we can make Nigeria great again!
